An Outdoor Treat Without the Heat
June 23, 2013
Summer is here and 4th of July is right around the corner! We love to welcome in the warm weather & blue skies with a family get together or two during the summer and as a result I’m always looking for easy ways to prepare our summertime favorites. One classic dish that’s easy to make, delicious, and a crowd favorite is s’mores. The chocolate, marshmallow, and graham cracker combination gets the kids giggling, the adults smiling, and the cameras snapping. That’s why I’m excited to partner with Kraft Foods as a Tastemaker to share this unique twist on one of our favorite no-bake desserts.
I came across this s’mores recipe on the Kraft Foods site and love that it is a bit different than the typical s’mores we usually make each summer. I adapted it a bit and was pleased to discover that not only does it include peanut butter, but it’s also a great recipe to make for a crowd.
As you know, with traditional s’mores you roast the marshmallows over the fire. This is always fun and provides lots of wonderful memories but if you have a large gathering it can be tough for everyone to get in close enough to roast their marshmallow properly.
With this recipe, you can put these s’mores together quickly, pop them on the grill or in the oven for a few minutes, and pass them out to party-goers. Then wait for the smiles of delight and surprise as they bite into the delicious melting chocolate, creamy peanut butter, toasted marshmallow, and crispy graham cracker combination.
We love this recipe and can’t wait to make it again. I’ve already added it to my list of 4th of July recipes and can’t wait to make these s’mores for our next get together. It’s simple, tastes like the classic with a peanut butter twist, and is now a family favorite. I was even happy to find that the extras hold up well in the fridge and are just as tasty served cold on a hot day.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Indoor S’mores
