The summer months in Illinois can be quite brutal with temperatures reaching into the high 90′s. During this sweltering heat, I often turn to my husband to get the grill going so we can still enjoy home cooked meals without heating up the house. I also happen to think it’s fun to spend time outdoors cooking together!
While I love his traditional hamburgers, hot dogs and steaks on the grill, sometimes we like to mix it up a bit. One way to do that is by taking a meal that’s traditionally made indoors and firing it on the grill. Case in point, a family favorite, taco night, is usually fried in a skillet but when it’s grilled over an open flame with hot grilled tortillas, it’s even more delicious.
This bold and flavorful dish all starts with a packet of GOOD SEASONS Italian Salad Dressing & Recipe Mix. This particular product can also be purchased with a dressing cruet that’s perfect for making your own salad dressing at home.
Instead of pouring that fresh dressing over a salad, we marinated our chicken with it which was then grilled over an open flame. The chicken can be enjoyed whole as part of a meal with your favorite BBQ and salad recipes. (Reminder: never reuse marinades that have come in contact with raw meat.)
Paired with fresh toppings like diced tomatoes, lettuce and warm, grilled tortillas, this becomes an unforgettable family cookout dinner.
