Cute Christmas Treats
December 18, 2013
How cute is this? I was excited to be asked as a Kraft Tastemaker to try my hand at holiday baking. I love making Christmas recipes with Kora and Logan and thought this was a great way to get into the kitchen with them. Baking together is such a fun way to share holiday memories and they are wonderful little chefs who enjoy measuring, pouring, mixing, rolling, decorating and more.
I often see cake balls all over the internet this time of year and when I looked over the variety of cookie balls on the Kraft site I thought this twist sounded delicious. I came across the Melting Snowmen Cookie Balls and knew the kids would really enjoy making and eating these.
We had fun making this recipe and were happy to find it is incredibly easy. My one big tip is to keep a close eye on the white chocolate. If you microwave it even just a bit too long it gets hard and loses its ability to cover the cookie ball or drip over the edge as melted snow. I also used a fork to dip the cookie ball, I didn't poke it but rolled it around in the chocolate and then scooped it up letting the excess drip back into the bowl. Then I took a spoon and dribbled a bit around the bottom of each cookie ball for the melted snow.
Next we placed the chocolate sandwich cookie bites as hats and then used decorator's gel for the faces. I was right about this recipe. Kora and Logan loved making it! Here's a video of them decorating the snowmen faces.
We really enjoyed this recipe and found it festive and fun. These cute little snowmen would be adorable at a holiday party or in a cookie exchange. We've added them to our list of holiday favorites and we hope you enjoy them too!
