what you need
- 4 eggs
- 9 inch deep dish pie crust
- 1 box frozen spinach (optional)
- 2 cups whipping cream
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. sugar
- 1/3 cup grated onion
- 4 thin slices Virginia ham
- 3/4 cup grated Swiss cheese
- 1/4 cup grated marble jack cheese
make it
Break eggs into mixing bowl, brush pie crust with some of the egg white and set aside. Squeeze moisture out of frozen spinach. Add cream, salt, sugar, spinach and onion to eggs and blend with a whisk until well blended.
Arrange ham in bottom of pie crust, sprinkle with the cheese, and pour egg mixture over cheese.
Bake at 425 degrees F for 20 minutes. Reduce heat to 300 degrees F and bake 30-35 minutes or until knife inserted comes out clean. Let stand 20- 25 minutes before serving.
Notes
TIP: Quiche can be made a day ahead and reheated at 300 degrees F for about 25 minutes.
I add spinach to this recipe as it really tastes great and adds more texture to the quiche. You may use crumbled bacon instead of ham or any ham you prefer. This is a great recipe for Christmas morning as it can be made ahead.
