what you need
- 1 lb. bag 15 beans
- 3 quarts water
- Meat--optional
- 2 medium onions, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 can tomatoes, diced
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- Juice of 1 lemon or 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
- 3 chicken bouillon cubes
- 1 package frozen, chopped spinach
- 4 grated carrots
make it
Soak beans overnight in 3 quarts of water.
Add fresh water, and bring beans to a boil, simmer uncovered for 3 hours. If using meat, prepare.
Add: onions, garlic, tomatoes, chili powder, lemon juice, bouillon, spinach and carrots.
Simmer for another 30 to 45 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste
Notes
Add small elbow noodles on the second day.
