what you need
  • Group #1
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • Group #2
  • 2 sticks of oleo
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa
  • Group #3
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 stick oleo
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 6 Tbsp. milk
  • 1 box powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
make it
Group #1 - Add all ingredients into a bowl and stir until all blended.

Group #2 - Bring all ingredients to a boil.

Group #3 - In small bowl beat all ingredients.

Add group #2 to group #1, then add group #3. Mix all well. Pour into a greased jelly roll pan (12X15) and bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes only...DO NOT OVER BAKE.

Begin making icing after cake has been baking for about 15 minutes. Bring oleo, cocoa, and milk to a boil. Add powdered sugar and vanilla. Stir for a few minutes until all is blended and comes to a consistency of spreadable frosting. Spread immediately on cake while hot - can sprinkle with chopped nuts.
This is a very moist cake and is nice to take to a tureene dinner or church function. I always go home with an empty dish! This was one of my mother's favorite cake recipes and the recipe I use is in her handwriting.
