Chocolate Chip-0atmeal-Walnut Bars

what you need
  • l cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • l l/4 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • Dash salt
  • 1 pkg. (12 oz.) chocolate chips
  • l l/2 cups chopped walnuts, toasted*
make it
l. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In large bowl, beat butter on medium speed until soft and smooth. Add brown sugar, white sugar and vanilla; blend well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

2. In medium bowl, combine oats, whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, baking soda and salt; mix well.

3. Slowly add flour mixture to butter mixture, beating until well blended. Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts. Spoon and spread dough in ungreased 15x10x1-inch pan.

4. Bake l5 to 20 minutes or until golden brown; cool on wire rack.
Notes
To toast nuts, spread on baking sheet; bake at 375 degrees F. for 7 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool.
