what you need
- 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1-1/2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 cup soft shortening
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 eggs, unbeaten
- 1-1/2 teaspoons black walnut flavoring
- 1 cup black walnuts
- Frosting:
- 1 package (8 ounce) cream cheese, softened
- 1 box powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla

In large bowl mix; flour, sugar, salt and baking powder. Drop in shortening; Pour in 3/4 cup milk and mix well. Add 1/4 cup milk, eggs, and black walnut flavoring. Beat well then add black walnuts.
Pour in a well greased 13x9x2-inch pan and bake at 350 degrees in preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until done.
Frosting: Blend sugar with soft cream cheese. Work in milk and vanilla. Spread on cooled cake.
