what you need
  • 3/4 cup butter, softened (almost to melting)
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
make it
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cream butter and sugars together. Beat in egg and vanilla. Add the salt and baking soda, stirring until blended. Add flour one cup at a time. Finally, add the chocolate chips and mix well.

Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto a lightly greased baking sheet about 2 inches apart.

Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool on the baking sheet 1-2 minutes, then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
This recipe works well with milk chocolate chips and other baking candies as well.
