what you need
- 2-3" piece ginger root
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1 large onion
- 1 head cabbage
- 1 lb. hamburger or ground beef
- Salt
- 2-3 tsp. soy sauce
- 1/4 tsp. Ajinomoto (MSG) or meat tenderizer
- Vegetable oil
- 2 pkg. egg roll wrappers

Peel and finely chop ginger & garlic. Chop onion and cabbage. Add meat, ginger, garlic, onion, & cabbage to large skillet. Add salt, soy sauce, & Ajinomoto. Fry over medium heat until meat is cooked through & vegetables are limp. Place meat & vegetable mixture in a large mixing bowl.
Cut egg roll wrappers diagonally. Place a heaping teaspoon of meat & vegetable mixture in egg roll wrapper. Fold in long corners and roll up towards point. Moisten point with water and seal.
Place enough vegetable oil in large fry pan to cover bottom. Fry over medium heat until bottoms of dumplings are brown. Proceed until all dumplings have been fried.
Place a small amount of water in a clean pan & heat. Place a single layer of dumplings in pan (brown side down) and steam until tops become translucent.
Notes
A dipping sauce can be made by mixing vinegar & soy sauce. Mix to taste, but generally it should be about 1/2 cup soy sauce to 1 Tbsp. vinegar.
