what you need
- CRUST
- 1 box (18.25-ounces) devil's food cake mix
- 2-1/2 sticks (1-1/4 cups) butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- TOPPING
- 3/4 cup light-brown sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1/4 cup light corn syrup
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 cup each (4-ounces each) pecans, cashews and hazelnuts, coarsely chopped
- 1-1/2 cups (9-ounce) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350F. You'll need a 15x10-inch rimmed baking sheet lined with nonstick foil. Let foil extend above pan on both ends.
CRUST: Beat all ingredients in a large bowl with mixer on medium speed 1 minute or until blended. Spread evenly in pan. Bake 15 minutes or until crust has risen and then fallen in center. Cool completely in pan on a wire rack.
TOPPING: Whisk brown sugar, eggs, corn syrup and vanilla in a medium bowl until smooth. Stir in nuts and chocolate chips. Spread evenly over crust. Bake 35 minutes or until center no longer jiggles when pan is gently shaken. Cool 25 minutes in pan on a wire rack. Lift foil by ends and slide onto a cutting board. Cut lengthwise in 4 strips and crosswise in 8 to make 32 bars. Peel off foil.
