- CAKES:
- 1-1/4 cups boiling water
- 1 cup quick-cooking oats
- 1 stick butter
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 whole eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1-1/3 cups plain flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- TOPPING
- 6 Tbsp. butter
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/4 cup cream
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 cup PLANTERS nuts, chopped
- 1 cup coconut

CAKES: Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 9x13-inch pan. Soak oats in hot water 20 minutes. Cream together butter and sugars; add eggs; beat well. Add oats; beat well. Add vanilla. Sift together flour, soda, salt and spices. Add to cream mixture and pour into prepared pan. Bake 35 minutes.
TOPPING: Melt butter in saucepan or microwave until soft. Add sugar, cream and vanilla. Mix together. Add nuts and coconut. Spread on baked cake. Place under broiler until brown and bubbly (approximately 2 minutes). Watch closely, will burn quickly. Cool in pan.
