what you need
- 1-1/2 pounds ground chuck
- 3/4 cup finely chopped green bell pepper
- 3/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 3/4 cup finely chopped celery
- 1/3 cup plus 2 tablespoons ketchup, divided
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1-1/2 teaspoons salt
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup fresh bread crumbs
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 6 Kaiser rolls
- Garnish: lettuce, sliced tomatoes, dill pickle chips, or topping of your choice

Preheat oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, combine ground chuck, bell pepper, onion, celery, 2 tablespoons ketchup, sugar, chili powder, salt, eggs, milk, and bread crumbs. Shape into 6 patties.*
Place patties on a broiler pan. In a small bowl, combine remaining 1/3 cup ketchup and brown sugar. Spread 1 tablespoon ketchup mixture on top of each patty.
Bake for 1 hour. Serve on Kaiser rolls. Garnish with toppings, if desired.
Notes
*Meatloaf patties can be wrapped tightly in plastic wrap and frozen at this point, if desired. Let thaw in refrigerator overnight before broiling.
