what you need
- 1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
- 1 cup coarsely shredded carrots
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup finely chopped celery
- 6 Tbsp. flour
- 6 cups milk
- 3 cups diced fully cooked ham
- 1 tsp. celery seed
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cups cheddar cheese, cubed or shredded
make it
In large sauce pan, cook carrots, onions, celery in butter until tender but not brown.
Blend in flour; add milk. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Stir in diced ham, celery seeds and Worcestershire sauce. Heat thoroughly.
Add cheese and stir until melted. Serve hot with snipped chives for garnish.
