what you need
  • 2 packages (8 oz. each) crescent rolls
  • 2 packages (8 oz. each) cream cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar, divided
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup crushed walnuts

Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a 9X13 inch baking dish with non-stick spray. Mold 1 package of crescent rolls into bottom of baking dish. Mix cream cheese, 1 cup of sugar, and vanilla until creamy and smooth. Spread mixture evenly over crescent roll mixture.

Mold second package of crescent rolls into a single layer and place over cream cheese mixture. In small bowl, beat egg yolk. Brush over top crescent roll layer. Mix 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon, and crushed nuts. Sprinkle over top crescent roll layer.

Bake for 30-35 minutes. Serve warm or chilled.
For a decorative touch, use a third package of crescent rolls to cut out shapes with cookie cutters. Place shapes in a pattern over top layer before brushing with egg yolk. Add leaf shapes for fall, bell shapes for holidays, flower shapes in spring, etc.
