Tomato Sauce with Butter & Onion

what you need
  • 1 can (28 oz.) San Marzano plum tomatoes
  • 5 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 small onion, peeled and cut in half
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
make it
Put tomatoes with juice in saucepan and with sharp kitchen shears, cut into pieces.

Add butter, onion halves, and salt. Bring to simmer.

Cook uncovered for 45 minutes. Stir occasionally, using wooden spoon to mash up any big tomato pieces. Discard onion and toss with pasta to serve.
