what you need
- 1 sheet (half of a 17.3 oz. pkg.) frozen puff pastry dough, thawed
- 6 oz. Philadelphia reduced-fat cream cheese
- 1-1/3 cups confectioners' sugar, divided
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 lg green apple, peeled, cored, thinly sliced
- 1 lg pear, peeled, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup orange-flavored dried cranberries
- 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp. grated lemon
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
make it
Preheat oven to 375°F. Lightly spray a baking sheet with cooking spray. On lightly floured surface, roll pastry into rectangle. In lg bowl, beat cream cheese, 1/3 cup sugar, vanilla. In another bowl, combine fruit, 1/3 cup sugar, cornstarch and grated lemon.
Spread cheese mix in 4" wide strip down center of pastry. Leave a 3" border on each side, and a 2" border at top and bottom of pastry. Spread fruit mix on top of cheese mix. Fold short sides of dough over edge of fruit. With a sharp knife, cut each long side of dough on diagonal in 1" intervals to within 1" of filling. Alternately fold each dough strip over fruit. Brush with egg.
Bake for 30 min. Cool 10 min. Mix remaining 2/3 cup sugar with 1 Tbsp water. Drizzle over pastry.
Notes
This takes a little time, but it's actually fun to make. And what a perfect autumn dessert.
