what you need
- 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1 stick butter or margarine
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup applesauce
- 1/4 cup Breakstone’s Light Sour Cream
- CINNAMON SUGAR:
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1-1/2 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 3 tsp. hot coffee
- 1/2 lb. Kraft Extra-Sharp Cheddar Cheese, sliced into wedges
make it
Preheat oven to 400°F. Lightly spray a large baking sheet with cooking spray. In large mixing bowl, combine flours, baking powder and baking soda. Blend well. With a fork, blend in the butter or margarine until mix is in pea-size pieces. Add raisins to flour mix.
In another small bowl, stir applesauce and sour cream together, blend into flour mix until dough holds together in a ball. Sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar. Knead 1-2 times just until cinnamon is streaked through the dough. Turn dough onto lightly floured board. Roll out to about 1/2-inch thickness. Cut into 2-inch rounds. Place on baking sheet.
Bake for 15 min or until biscuits are slightly brown. In bowl, mix powdered sugar with just enough hot coffee to make a glaze. Drizzle over the hot biscuits, serve warm, with cheddar cheese wedges.
