Linguine in White Clam Sauce

what you need
- 1 package (16 ounce) linguini pasta
- Drizzle of olive oil
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 clove minced garlic
- 3 cans (8 ounce each) minced clams, with juice
- 2 tablespoons white wine
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Ground black pepper to taste
- Red pepper (optional)
- 1 tablespoon dried parsley (or freshly chopped)
- 1/2 tablespoon fresh basil
- Grated parmesan cheese

Cook pasta according to package directions.
In a large skillet saute the garlic in the olive oil and butter. Add the liquid from the clams, white wine, lemon juice, pepper and red pepper (if using). Sautee for a minute of two. Add parsley and basil, stir well. Cook for 10 minutes. Stir in clams until heated through.
Serve sauce warm over pasta and add a generous topping of parmesan cheese.
Notes
May add additional garlic to recipe.
May add a little red pepper for a kick.
Also try using cornstarch sparingly to thicken the sauce to desired consistency.
