Natilee's Cupcakes with Jell-O Frosting

what you need
  • 1 box cake mix (make as directed for cupcakes)
  • 1 small box Jell-O Favorite Flavor Gelatin
  • 1/4 cup boiling water
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 bag powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla

Make cupcakes according to instructions on box. Let cool completely.

While cupcakes are baking make Jell-O with 1/4 cup boiling water, stir to dissolve Jell-O. Cool for 20 minutes in fridge.

When Jell-O has cooled down but not thickened, in mixer combine shortening, powdered sugar, and vanilla, Start on low and add Jell-O slowly. Add more powdered sugar if you want it ticker, for thinner add a little cold water. Mix on High speed for 2 min until mixed well.

Refrigerate for an hour and frost cupcakes.
