what you need
- 4 pounds cooking apples (Cortland)
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 5 whole cloves
- 4 1/4 cups water
make it
Peel, core, and chop apples. Put into large saucepan with remaining ingredients, cook over low heat until very soft.
Remove cloves, beat until smooth and creamy. Bring to a boil.
Pour into warm jars so you hear pop of sealing.
