Had never tried sweet potatoes before. Made it for a dinner party and it was a huge success!

What You Need

large onion, chopped

slices OSCAR MAYER Lower Sodium Turkey Bacon (with sea salt), chopped

1-1/2

lb. sweet potatoes (2 large), peeled, cut into bite-size chunks

apples, chopped

1/2

cup apple juice

tsp. ground cinnamon

1/4

cup chopped PLANTERS Pecans

Make It

HEAT oven to 375ºF.

COOK onions and bacon in large nonstick skillet on medium heat 7 to 8 min. or until onions are crisp-tender.

PLACE potatoes in 13x9-inch baking dish sprayed with cooking spray. Add apples, apple juice and cinnamon; mix lightly. Top with onion mixture; cover.

BAKE 40 min.; top with nuts. Bake 15 min. or until potatoes are tender and most the liquid is absorbed.

Substitute

Substitute 1 cup chopped shallots for the chopped onion.

The picture looks like this dish was made with yams instead of sweet potatoes. They have a different flavor and color and I don't consider them interchangeable. Did you use real sweet potatoes or yams and call them sweet potatoes?

I cooked this for thanksgiving. I think it would've been great if Sweet potatoes were actually sweet.

This was the pitts. I made it for Thanksgiving and not one person liked it so I had to throw it out. I would NEVER make it again

Made this and brought it to a party. One lady asked me to marry her, and another said she found her new comfort food. lol. I think next time, I will put crunchy bacon and pecans for topping for little crunch, and less onion. I am ready for Thanksgiving.

My dad and my husband LOVED these. I was reluctant to try the combination, but it had great flavor.

This had real potential and the flavor was definitely good. My problem was with my bacon and onions. I cooked them as advised and my onions were over done and my bacon was under done. I may make it again, but I think it would be good to give the bacon a head start cooking and then add the onion.
