Pumpkin + Banana Bread + Cream Cheese Frosting = Bliss

It’s time to break out the pumpkin! Now you can get whole pumpkins…or just buy a bunch of cans of puree like I do. There are so many sweet and savory dishes you can incorporate it into. I’ve added pumpkin to lots of different recipes. It’s easy to add to anything with a tomato-based red sauce like chili, spaghetti or enchiladas. You can also make many different pumpkin desserts like rolls, pumpkin cheesecake or pudding. Yum! But today I’m going to add pumpkin to banana bread for a wonderful fall flavor.

For this Pumpkin Banana Bread with Spiced Cream Cheese Glaze, I start with a basic banana bread recipe and add 1 cup of pumpkin puree. To save time, I use canned pumpkin puree instead of making my own. Then, instead of the usual banana bread spices, I add pumpkin pie spice. It makes this bread incredibly fragrant and so irresistibly delicious. After baking, I add a simple spiced cream cheese glaze that makes this bread out of this world.

Want more traditional banana bread ideas? No problem. And here are more cream cheese frosting recipes.

This bread goes wonderfully with coffee and fresh fruit at breakfast time. It also pairs perfectly with tea in the afternoon.

I have been looking for some new pumpkin recipes this fall. This sounds like a winner. My husband bought a case of pumpkin puree when he found it on a big markdown. Good thing he likes to eat it as much as I enjoy baking with it.
