Half the fun of Halloween is in decorating and one of the easiest ways to decorate for a Halloween party is with creative foods. Here are three ways you can really make your Halloween food stand out:
- Present your food in a ghoulish shape. For example, serve white cupcakes on a large platter in the shape of a ghost, with two mini cupcakes topped with black frosting for the eyes. Create a mouth for your ghost with a full sized cupcake topped with black frosting!
- Add Halloween decorations to traditional party food. Serve food on themed platters and insert fun wooden picks into appetizers and desserts. If you like DIY, make your own creepy bags for Halloween snacks by drawing on small paper sacks with a permanent marker or using rubber stamps. Use black construction paper to add a jack-o-lantern face to the front of a clear punch bowl and fill the bowl with orange punch.
- Decorate food for the theme of your party. Make your pizza into a monster face with pepperoni, black olives and peppers. Create spiders with chocolate wafer cookies by attaching small jelly beans for eyes and black licorice for legs with frosting or melted chocolate.
Another great idea for your next Halloween celebration is this fun Spider Taco Cheese Ball. The body of the spider is formed with a flavorful cheese ball, rolled in crushed blue corn chips. Fresh green onions, or pretzel sticks depending on your preference, give it legs. You can easily prepare the cheese ball mixture a day ahead. Before your guests arrive, roll it in crushed tortilla chips and add the eyes and mouth using pieces of your favorite cheeses. Serve your spider with sturdy tortilla chips, crackers or pretzels. It’s sure to be a hit at the party!
