Thanksgiving is my absolute favorite holiday. This year will be extra special because it will be the first time my husband and I will host dinner in our new home. There’s more room now for more guests and even more good times! We have many loved ones to invite, but it’s no easy feat planning a holiday dinner for a large group.
I love making all of the classics: turkey and stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, apple and pumpkin pie. I’m usually putting the final touches on our Thanksgiving feast as everyone arrives, and I’ve learned over time that appetizers are the perfect way to keep guests from getting restless while they’re waiting for the main event. My first year hosting, I made the mistaking of serving too many appetizers. Everyone was full before the turkey was even out of the oven! It seems that for our family, two appetizers is the magic number. I’ll usually make one dip and one finger food so there’s a little variety.
Baked Brie has always been a holiday favorite of ours. My sister-in-law makes hers with a sweet jam and jalapeños, while I like to make mine en croute with caramelized onions. This year, I decided to put a twist on our Brie appetizer by making mini two-bite puff pastry cups filled with Brie and a sweet maple pecan sauce. Not only are Maple Pecan Brie Bites perfect for Thanksgiving, but with just five ingredients, they’re incredibly easy to make. This is my new favorite Thanksgiving appetizer, and soon it’ll be yours too!
