With the holiday season over, it’s time to focus on healthy habits. One of the best habits to start (or recommit to) is packing a lunch instead of eating out. Even if you’re at home during the day, planning your lunchtime foods will ensure you eat a smart, well-portioned meal that tastes great. Finding some easy recipes and setting aside a little preparation time is all it takes to plan out those better choices.
This month, try getting into the lunch-making habit by using some of these strategies for success:
- Choose from salad recipes, sandwiches, and lunch ideas. Use the search feature on KraftRecipes.com to find those made with your favorite lean proteins and vegetables.
- Scale down a larger recipe (typically, that means cutting in half a dinner recipe that serves 4-6), then divide that into lunchtime portions.
- Use time over the weekend to buy, clean and chop fruits and vegetables to use alongside lunches and as snacks on busy weekdays. Then, they’re ready for you to just grab and go.
- Take time in the evening to make easy recipes like my variation on this Mediterranean Shrimp Pasta Salad side dish or Steakhouse Salad, and take the leftovers for lunch. Need more salad recipes? See Kraft’s Spinach Salad Recipes.
Get yourself back on track and eating better. By packing your own weekday lunches, you’ll eat better and save money, two great habits that will serve you well all year long.
