With the holiday season over, it’s time to focus on healthy habits. One of the best habits to start (or recommit to) is packing a lunch instead of eating out. Even if you’re at home during the day, planning your lunchtime foods will ensure you eat a smart, well-portioned meal that tastes great. Finding some easy recipes and setting aside a little preparation time is all it takes to plan out those better choices. Continue reading
A classic never goes out of style. Like that white lace tablecloth passed down from my grandmother or my father’s set of crystal martini glasses, these retro recipes still look amazing on my table today. Nostalgic dishes like a Yule log, stuffed mushrooms and cheese balls serve up a little bit of old-school Americana but still feel modern—and taste delicious!—in a holiday spread. Continue reading
I am fortunate enough to get to dine at some of the finest restaurants out there, and lately I have been finding the chefs featuring melons, especially watermelon, in their salads. With summer providing a bounty in our gardens and in the fresh markets, we have been having a virtual field day with salads: tomatoes and cheese, your typical garden salad and this, quite possibly the best summer salad ever, Cucumber Melon Salad. Over this dressing and a bit of chopped basil, rendering a burst of flavor and texture in every delectable bite. It has been a true hit for us, give it a try! Continue reading
A few weekends ago, we had family come for a long weekend. We spent the weekend grilling, playing in the pool and spending time with the new addition, our little sweet angel, Lillian. You know that moment when you walk into the farmers’ market and you’re almost overwhelmed by all the glorious fruits and veggies piled up everywhere you look? Yeah, we’re there. If my trip to the farmers’ market last weekend is any indication, we’ve hit peak produce production. I highly recommend grabbing the extra-large tote, then taking a trip to see and taste everything your local farmers have to offer. Be on the lookout for these six amazing fruits and veggies, then come home and enjoy my favorite ways to make them shine. Continue reading
I live a five-minute walk from the grocery store, which is very convenient for someone who doesn’t like to plan. The idea of doing one big shop at the beginning of the week seems totally unreasonable for me. I am one of those “Oh, that picture on Pinterest of cauliflower gratin looks really good, let’s make it tonight” kind of planners.
