Love ’em or hate ’em, they’re inescapable this time of year. No, I’m not talking about shopping-mall Santas. I mean holiday guests. Extra bedrooms are quickly filling up with parents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends gathering for celebrations large and small. Personally, I love a full house—though with my husband, kids and new baby, mine’s feeling pretty full all the time these days! With these large gatherings come large meals, and it turns out people need to eat more than just the one big holiday meal. When I was younger, Thanksgiving was my favorite holiday. Well, it was my secret favorite holiday. As a kid, your favorite holiday has to be Christmas just because of all the toys. In the bottom of my heart, though, Thanksgiving was my favorite. I enjoyed being around my entire family, watching my grandma preparing dinner and my grandfather carving the turkey. One of my most vivid memories is of my grandfather trying an electric knife for the first time. He was like a kid in a candy store.
