Eyes on the Pies

Ripe, juicy summer fruit is bursting from grocery and farmers’ markets these days. Time for me to grab my rolling pin and reach for the pie recipes! The window of opportunity to make desserts from perfectly ripe berries or peaches is brief but glorious, and I’m asking just one thing of you: Take advantage of the bounty while it lasts and make a pie. Any kind! Blueberry pie, double-berry pies, fruit-stuffed hand pies…they’re all amazing. And with the right recipes (*cough* like the ones I picked below *cough*), they can be ridiculously easy to make too.

One of Summer’s Best New Desserts: No-Bake, Layered AND Chocolate!

When it comes to get-togethers I host, dessert is usually an afterthought. Because I’m more of a savory cook than a talented baker, I tend to put all my energy into the main course rather than the sweet ending. However, I’ve finally found a dessert that is both incredibly simple and always delicious: No-Bake Chocolate Layer Dessert. Chocolate-Dipped Ice Cream Deliciousness

I love chocolate for everything from brownie baking to strawberry dipping, and especially for that perfectly thin drizzle over the top of my favorite baked goods. Vanilla ice cream is packed into crisp sugar cones, dipped into velvety smooth semisweet chocolate, rolled in nuts and frozen! Can’t you practically taste it by looking at the photos? These creamy, crisp ice cream cones taste even better than store-bought.

Some may ask, “Why bother with a cute Easter dessert when chocolate bunnies and creme-filled eggs are so plentiful?” Listen, the truth is that they’re just…not…cute enough! Chocolate bunnies are sweet…but they’re so predictable. And so I bring you cupcakes that are too pretty to go unnoticed. Rainbow cakes that are equal parts daring and darling. Bunny cakes that command attention with their eye-catching adorableness. Easter is an opportunity for total cuteness overload. And with these seven recipes, that’s exactly what you’ll deliver!

Fond of Fondue? Me Too!

There’s a certain romantic holiday arriving in five days (but who’s counting?), and a deep pool of molten chocolate and an accompanying pile of strawberries are downright icons of Valentine’s Day. That might have been my original inspiration for featuring these luscious, made-for-sharing fondue recipes…but you know what? I’m fond of fondue all year long. If we could only dunk bite-size snacks into chocolate or cheese once a year, this would be a sad, sad world.
