Crowd-Pleasing Brunch Made Easy

Love ’em or hate ’em, they’re inescapable this time of year. No, I’m not talking about shopping-mall Santas. I mean holiday guests. Extra bedrooms are quickly filling up with parents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends gathering for celebrations large and small. Personally, I love a full house—though with my husband, kids and new baby, mine’s feeling pretty full all the time these days! With these large gatherings come large meals, and it turns out people need to eat more than just the one big holiday meal. Last year, we learned the hard way that a few boxes of cold cereal only go so far.

Thanksgiving Is in the Details

It seems that more and more, Thanksgiving has become the kickoff to Christmas, but for me, it’s the high point of the holiday season. To my mind, what’s beautiful about Thanksgiving is its simplicity. No secrets, no surprises, no mall and no stapling lights to the roof. No glitter (well, OK, there’s some glitter). Thanksgiving is the day we talk about how grateful we are for food, for the roof over our heads and for the people in our house that day, some of whom may just be at loose ends on that fourth Thursday in November.
