This is one of the best stuffing recipes I’ve ever eaten. It’s also one of the few savory dishes I’ll lick the spoon for, and a recipe I’ll undoubtedly pass down to my daughter one day (along with many others).
Fall cooking—especially for Thanksgiving—is something I think about all year long. Only a couple of months after my boyfriend and I began dating in the spring of 2014, we were already planning our Thanksgiving menu, making lists and coordinating sweet and savory dishes to cook for our family and friends. You could say it was love. Continue reading
The thought of trading in flip-flops for boots and sand for fallen leaves makes me realize that I’m just not ready for summer to end yet. While there’s nothing that will make the warm, sunny days never-ending (except maybe a move to Southern California?), I can make sure I squeeze every last drop of fun out of festive barbecues, fresh-cut grass, dips in the pool and all the rest. With that in mind, I’m sharing my most unforgettable, all-time favorite Labor Day recipes. They’re a mix of traditional—potato salad, Watergate salad—and new recipes—zucchini fries, peanut butter s’mores bars—and some others in between, but they’re all guaranteed to make this Labor Day the best in recent memory!
Ready for fireworks? I’m not talking Roman candles, either—I’m talking the oohs and ahhs that will commence when you set down a tray of brightly colored goodies in front of your July 4th guests. And honestly, who can blame them? Desserts too often hide in shades of brown and white (not that I’m knockin’ chocolate, mind you…). But just in time for Independence Day, treats take a turn toward the bright and beautiful—a trend spurred on by the abundance of ripe red and blue berries. So in honor of our nation’s birthday, here are a few of my favorite patriotic treats, including berry-topped mini cheesecakes, a stunning ice cream cake and that grand ol’ showstopper, an American flag cake.
Ahh, the Memorial Day cookout: Your annual chance to reconnect with family, enjoy the magical late-spring weather and flex your grilling muscles in preparation for the (hopefully many!) summer cookouts to come. And while burgers and hot dogs might be default Memorial Day entrées, that just gives side dishes and dessert more room to shine! I’ve gathered a few traditional-faves-with-a-twist, including potato salad, macaroni salad and my very favorite fruity (yep, fruity!) cole slaw recipe, to help up your patio-party game.
If you’re celebrating Easter, you’ve probably got enough on your plate without needlessly complicating your menu. But here’s good news: You can take fussy appetizers out of that equation and focus on the rest of the festivities (even if that means sneaking candy from the kids’ baskets while they’re distracted—no judgment). I’ve gathered the eight easiest pre-feast noshes I could find, including deviled eggs, breads, mini frittatas and a creamy dip recipe or two. Because I’m nice like that—and because everybunny needs a break sometimes.
