If you’re like me, I think of cheese balls as party food, reserved for celebrations and special family gatherings. I’m not sure why, since everyone always loves them and they’re so simple to make. I just never think of making one, unless there is an event planned. After creating this recipe and gauging my family’s reaction, I need to rethink that policy.
To sum up the general feeling, our eighteen your old son (through a mouthful of crackers and cheese ball) asked, “Why is there not ALWAYS a cheese ball?” -- Grammar aside, I’m pretty sure that means he likes it. :)
This is my fourth recipe as a Kraft Tastemaker and while I have had so much fun exploring all the fabulous brands and products that are part of the Kraft Foods “family”, I have been struck by how many more of them are actually pantry staples for our family. Kraft has been a trusted name in family kitchens for decades and mine is no exception.
Creating fabulous appetizers, like my cheese ball, is even easier when your fridge and cupboards are always home to KRAFT Extra Sharp Cheddar, PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese and A.1. Original Sauce. I hope you enjoy this concert of spectacular flavors as you usher in the cool, crispness of autumn and the great entertaining opportunities like tailgating, homegating and covered dish dinners!
This recipe is as simple as combining all the ingredients in a single bowl. It’s important that you stir until everything is thoroughly combined and evenly distributed throughout the cream cheese. Then every flavor will *pop* in each scrumptious bite. Once the cheese ball is mixed, shape it into a ball, seal it up in plastic wrap and refrigerate it until you’re ready to serve. The soft cream cheese mixture will firm up in the fridge and easily transfer to your serving platter. Provide lots of crackers and a small cheese knife to serve the cheese ball.
