what you need
- 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 cup crushed butter crackers
- 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 oz. packet onion soup mix
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons steak sauce
- 3 slices bacon
make it
In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, crushed crackers, shredded cheese, and soup mix with the ground beef. In a small bowl, beat the eggs. Add in the ketchup and steak sauce and stir until blended. Add the egg mixture into the ground beef mixture. Combine thoroughly.
Shape into a loaf, and put into a large loaf pan. Top with 3 slices of bacon.
Bake at 350 degrees F for about 45 minutes to 1 hour (or until middle is no longer pink).
Notes
Crushed Ritz Crackers work perfect!
White cheddar has a nice sharp flavor for this recipe.
BBQ Sauce can be substituted for the steak sauce.
To make ahead, cover and refrigerate after the loaf is complete...the longer it’s in the fridge the better it seems.
