- Brownie:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup CREAM OF WHEAT Cereal (1-minute, 2-1/2-minute or 10-minute cook time), uncooked
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/3 cup flour
- 1/2 cup cholesterol-free egg product
- 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) margarine or butter, melted
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- Hot chocolate:
- 2 squares BAKER'S Unsweetened Baking Chocolate
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 cups milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 pkg. of any ice cream
make it
Brownie:
MIX sugar, cereal, cocoa and flour in large bowl; blend in egg product, margarine and vanilla.
SPREAD in greased 8-inch square baking pan.
BAKE at 325°F for 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out almost clean. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into 2-inch squares.
Hot chocolate:
PLACE 1 cup water and chocolate in heavy 2-quart saucepan; cook on low heat until chocolate is melted and mixture is blended, stirring constantly with wire whisk.
STIR in sugar. Bring to boil on medium-high heat. Boil 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Gradually whisk in milk and vanilla. Reduce heat to medium. Cook until mixture is heated through, stirring occasionally.
At the time of serving: Place the brownies in a plate or any flat dish and put a scoop of any ice cream (tastes best with vanilla ice cream) and then add the hot chocolate.
Notes
Special Extra: Sprinkle nuts over tops of brownies before serving.
Great Substitute: Make this rich, hot chocolate with low fat or fat free milk. It is a delicious warm up to enjoy after a day spent snow skiing or ice skating.
