what you need
- 1 cup uncooked macaroni
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1/2 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 can (6-ounce) tomato paste
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 small bay leaf
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
- 1/4 tsp. oregano
- 1/4 tsp. basil
make it
Cook macaroni according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
Brown ground beef with mushrooms, onion and garlic. Pour off fat. Add remaining ingredients. Simmer gently for about 15 minutes.
Add cooked, drained macaroni. Simmer 5 minutes. Remove and discard bay leaf.
Notes
I got this recipe from the American Heart Association some time ago. I have changed the recipe to out taste.
I put 1 can tomatoes, crushed and Italian seasonings also I put the tomato paste and tomato sauce in it to. It is very good like it is originally is but we like the tomato taste and Italian seasonings. I also put 3 cloves of garlic in it.
