what you need
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 cup warm water {for yeast test}
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 4 cups warm water
- 1 cup salad oil
- 4 tsp. salt
- 14 cups flour
make it
Mix together yeast, sugar, and water to test if yeast is good. Set aside for 10 minutes. Should start to bubble and raise.
Combine sugar, water & salad oil to above ingredients. Sprinkle salt over flour and begin to add to mixture a few cups at a time. Let dough raise until it doubles (about 2 hours).
Work dough down and let raise again. Make into buns and let raise until morning.
Bake at 375°F for 15 minutes.
Notes
Start this at 4 pm if you want to be in bed by 10 pm.
You may place your dough in preheated oven (to 200°F and shut it off) to speed up the raising process.
Number of buns depends on whether you make hot dog or hamburger buns and the size bun you make.
