what you need
- 8 Oscar Mayer Hot Dogs
- Cooking oil
- 1 medium Vidalia onion, chopped
- 8 hot dog buns
- 4 Kraft American Cheese Singles, because it's the only American thing to do
- Mustard of your choice
- Homemade chili preferred but can substitute store bought chili
make it
1. Place 8 dogs in a 10" frying pan with enough cooking oil just to cover the bottom of the pan, on low heat, and begin frying turning until dog is browned all around - about 20 min.
2. Place onion in freezer at the same time that dogs are placed in fryer, and let stay in freezer for 15 min. (By freezing the onion it takes away the burning of the eyes and avoids the runny nose.) Remove and chop.
3. Take 4 Kraft singles and fold into 4 horizontal strips and place on dogs when done. Cover with mustard, chili and onions and enjoy!
Notes
If you do not have a steamer to heat the buns, place them in the microwave for about 10 seconds or to your desired warmth.
Also you are more than welcome to use your favorite onion and cooks. The 4 strips from each Kraft Single should be about an 1/2 inch wide so 1 single should cover 2 of HIPPEE'S Chili & Cheese Dogs.
Thanks and enjoy, Russell Skipper 7/9/04
