Makes: 4 servings Total Time: 15 min
Category: Beverages Sub Category: Shakes & Smoothies

what you need
  • 2-3 ripe bananas
  • 3 cups frozen strawberries (we buy the lg bags of whole frozen strawberries)
  • 4+ cups orange juice (depending on size of blender)
  • 1 can (12 oz.) Canada Dry Ginger Ale
  • Blender
  • 4 beverage glasses
  • 4 straws
make it
In blender, place bananas, frozen strawberries (do NOT thaw them first) and orange juice to fill blender container).

Blend on high speed until smooth.

Divide evenly between 4 beverage glasses. Add ginger ale, dividing evenly between the 4 glasses. Add a straw and enjoy !
Notes
In summer, our bananas always seem to ripen faster than we can eat them and this is a good way to not waste them. We purchase large bags of whole frozen strawberries. Using them frozen is so much better than adding ice to the blender, as the fruit is not diluted. We prefer adding ginger ale, to top off the smoothies, but they can be had without the soda, or any plain carbonated beverage (Sprite. 7-Up, Seltzer) can be added. We find the "bubbles" from the carbonation takes away from the "heavy feeling" so much fruit sometimes has.
