what you need
- 10 medium Irish or red potatoes (more favorable in my opinion)-(optional)
- 6 cups water
- Salt and pepper
- 2 pkgs. Oscar Mayer Wieners-(my personal favorite)-(optional)
- 3 cans (15 oz. each) Luck’s Great Northern Beans, drain
- 2 cans (14 oz. each) Hunt's Diced Tomatoes/Mushrooms
- 2 cans (15 oz.) Hunt's Tomato sauce
- Kraft Deli-Deluxe Sliced Cheese (1-2 slices per serving)
make it
Peel and cut potatoes into chunks (wash thoroughly). Put potatoes into six cups of water and season with salt and pepper to your taste. Boil until potatoes are almost done.
Cut wieners into 1/2 inch slices and put into pot with potatoes. Pour off juice in beans and pour beans, tomatoes and tomato sauce into pot. Continue boiling until potatoes are tender.
Season again with salt and pepper to taste. Cut 1-2 slices of cheese into squares and drop into your bowl of soup.
Notes
If you like, fry a few hocakes of your favorite cornbread and dip into soup. Especially good on cold winter nights.
I used to fix this on a regular basis, at least every 2 weeks or so. My family loved it, and it's so easy to make.
