what you need
- Spaghetti Sauce
- 3 cans Hunt's Tomato Sauce (1 pound 13 ounces)
- 1 can flavored tomato paste (garlic)
- 1 Tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 large onion, diced
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1 can (2.25 ounce) sliced black olives, pour in juice too
- 1 tablespoon virgin olive oil
- 1 can sliced mushrooms
- 1 package hot Italian sausage/with skins
- Meatballs:
- 2 pounds ground chuck
- 2 slices bread, broken into small bits
- 2 Tablespoons catsup
- 1 raw egg
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 teaspoons season salt
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic (I cheat, I use jar kind)
make it
Sauce: Combine all ingredients but the Italian Sausage & place on stove on medium to get hot then put it on low/simmer.
Italian Sausage Prep: Cut skins down center & remove meat. Crumble meat into microwave safe bowl. Cover with paper towel & microwave 2 minutes & 30 seconds/stir. Microwave 2 minutes 30 seconds more. Remove from microwave & drain the fat off, then add meat to the sauce.
Mix all meatball ingredients together well, and then form little balls by rolling in hands (I make small balls so there are a lot). Place in a large baking dish & bake at 350°F for about 1 hour. Drain off fat & place in sauce. Add the meatballs to sauce. Then just sit back & let it simmer.
Notes
I serve with toasted garlic bread and a tossed green salad.
