Addy's Plum Pudding Sauce

what you need
- 1 cup milk
- 1 short cup sugar
- 1 walnut size piece of butter, room temperature
- 1 lightly beaten egg
- 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1 tsp. water
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- Brandy or sherry
make it
Heat milk in sauce pot. Cream sugar and butter together, add egg. Mix cornstarch and water, and add to sugar mixture.
Bring milk to boil, add all ingredients slowly, stirring constantly. Bring to boil again, turn heat down to medium. Continue stirring until slightly thickened and translucent (about 3 min).
Add vanilla and spirits.
Notes
The sauce is better than the plum pudding. It has been served for my family every Christmas during my whole 77 years. I venture to say that it is the best dessert sauce EVER made. BON APPETITE!
