make it
Slice French bread into 1 inch slices. Arrange slices in a generously buttered 9 x 9 deep casserole dish.
In a large bowl, combine eggs, half-and-half, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Beat with mixer until well combined. Pour over bread slices, making sure all of the bread is coated with the egg mixture. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Next day preheat oven 350°F. Mix butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, cinnamon and nutmeg until well blended, add pecans. Spread this over the bread making sure every slice has a generous amount of topping. Bake for 40 minutes!!!
Notes
My husband, kids, parents, and friends all beg me for this.
So easy to make the night before, throw it in the fridge and in the morning make the topping (this is a good time to start the coffee too!) While the oven is preheating and viola breakfast is served! Great with any breakfast meats. This recipe is easy to double for large gatherings.
