what you need
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 lb. hot or mild ground pork sausage
- 1 small onion chopped
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup fine, dry bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup mild salsa
- 2 tablespoons taco seasoning mix
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro, divided
- 1 package (2.64 oz) country style mix gravy
- 1 can (14 1/2 oz) reduced sodium beef broth
- 1 can (10 oz.) Ro*Tel brand diced tomatoes with green chilies
make it
Combine the first seven ingredients and 1 tablespoon of cilantro. Shape mixture into 6 (1/3) inch thick patties.
Heat a lightly greased large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add patties; brown; reduce heat to low, cover & cook 8-10 minutes until center is no longer pink. Remove from skillet.
Sauce mixture
Whisk together gravy, broth, and tomatoes and chilies, and remaining cilantro. Cover over medium heat for 1 min. or until thickened. Return patties to skillet and cook until thoroughly heated.
Notes
You can use any sausage you prefer but I used Jimmy Dean. You can use a milder version of anything because this is to your taste buds. Be sure to cook correctly because it contains pork and it could make someone really sick if not cooked thoroughly.
