what you need
- 1 1/2 to 2 lb. lean ground beef
- 1 can fried onions (we love them so I use a large can), divided
- 1 (or 2 cans if you like peas a lot!) can peas
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 cup white instant rice
- 1 cup hot water
- Salt and pepper to taste
make it
Brown ground beef in a large skillet and drain grease. Season meat with a few dashes of pepper and a small sprinkle of salt.
Add half of the can of fried onions, the entire can of peas, soy sauce, rice and hot water. Bring to a boil. Cover and turn off heat. Let the rice steam and soak up the water for 5 minutes.
Uncover, stir and serve topped with the leftover fried onions and add soy sauce to taste.
Notes
I used 1/4 cup of soy sauce while cooking the dish, but its really to each persons taste how much is necessary. Start small and keep adding until you feel its to your satisfaction! It's a quick meal, reheats easily.
