what you need
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1-1/2 teaspoons chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
- 2 cans (14-1/2 ounces each) beef broth
- 1 can red kidney beans, drained
- 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
make it
Heat oil in large saucepan over medium-high heat; cook ground beef, stirring occasionally, until brown, about 5 minutes. Drain fat, if you like.
Add chili powder, allspice and pepper; cook, stirring, 1 minute. Add broth and half of the kidney beans to the saucepan; heat to a boil over medium-high heat.
Meanwhile, puree the remaining beans in a blender or food processor; stir into the soup. Heat to a boil; reduce heat to simmer. Simmer 20 minutes. Garnish with shredded cheese.
