- 2 cups water
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 2 eggs
- 2 pounds ground sirloin steaks preformed or make 6 patties
- 1 lg. sweet onion
- Soy sauce
- Canned gravy or sauce (optional)
make it
Prepare stuffing using two cups water and one half cup margarine. After five minutes, stir in two eggs.
Form ground sirloin into six patties and place into 9 x 13 pan sprayed with Pam. Season to taste both sides of sirloin steak patty and place on top of stuffing. Lay large slice of onion on sirloin steak. Brush top of onion with soy sauce.
Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Top with canned gravy or sauce if you like.
Notes
This makes a dense stuffing similar to my mother's bread stuffing that you could slice.
The meat drippings flavor the stuffing and give them a more homemade flavor. I have done this with chicken breast, no onion, remove foil and melt cheese. I also suspect this would be good with pork chops.
My husband is a picky eater. He loves hamburger but hates vegetables. He even removes the onion on top. I can and I am sure that you can think of things to add to the stuffing or meat to give it your individual signature.
