what you need
- 1/3 cup butter (5 Tbsp.)
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 cup Kraft Butterscotch Topping
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 cup chopped dates
- 1 cup chopped pecans (or walnuts)
- Confectioners' sugar for dusting top
make it
Cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs, topping and vanilla. In separate bowl mix flour, baking powder and salt. Add the dry mixture to butter mixture and mix well. Fold in dates and nuts.
Pour in prepared (either sprayed well with cooking spray or lined with foil) 9" square pan.
Bake 350 degrees 40 - 45 minutes. Cool; sprinkle with sifted confectioners sugar. Cut into squares.
Notes
Best if pan is lined with foil for easy removal and cutting of bars.
Recipe can be doubled but for best results, make two individual batches but combine in one pan - use 13" x 9" bar pan lined with foil. Cook same as suggested.
