what you need
- 1 pint whipping cream (reserve 1/4 cup)
- 2 1/2 Tbsp. flour
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- White sugar (just less than 1 cup)
- Pre-baked 9" pie crust
- Butter
- Ground nutmeg
make it
Put 1/4 cup of the cream in a small bowl and stir in the flour. Set aside.
Put brown sugar in 1 cup measuring cup. Fill rest of the way with white sugar. Over medium heat in medium sauce pan, whisk sugars and remaining cream until sugar dissolves STIRRING CONSTANTLY! When mixture starts to boil, add cream/flour mixture. Cook 'til thickened (slow drips off of whisk). Cool.
Pour into pre-baked pie crust. Dot with slivers of butter and dust with nutmeg. Refrigerate until cool.
Notes
Recipe came from my great-great aunts who used to own a restaurant in Muncie IN called "Sisters" in the late 1930s - late 1940s.
