what you need
- 1 - 1 1/4 lb. fresh ground beef (lean preferred, 85-90% beef, 10-15% fat)
- 1 large Vidalia onion (or other type to preference), chopped fine
- 2 large sweet green peppers (can be hot peppers if preferred), chopped fine
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup Kraft Miracle Whip
- 3 tablespoons garlic powder
- Kraft cheese slices (American, cheddar, white - your preference)
make it
Preheat grill, medium to low flame settings (approximately 400 degrees F).
1. Combine and mix well ground beef, onions, peppers, ketchup, Miracle Whip and garlic powder.
2. Form into 4 hamburger patties, and place in center of grill and cook for approximately 15-20 minutes (grill cover down, or closed), or until done to preference. Flip burgers at least once 1/2 way through cooking time.
3. Place 1 or 2 slices of Kraft Singles and heat an additional 1-2 minutes, or until cheese is obviously melted to preference.
Notes
Depending on the grill, cooking time may vary, so it's best to check on the meat often and ensure it's cooked well to the center - no red juices should exude when "pressed" - I always cut into one to ensure "doneness").
Enjoy! This was a delicious twist on everyday hamburgers that I actually learned in "Home Economics Class" when in Junior High School more than 25 years ago! The entire family (and neighbors) love them!
