Dad's Spicy Chili (or My Sausage Chili)

what you need
- 2 lb. lean ground beef
- 1 medium onion, quartered
- 1 qt. tomatoes (home-canned or store bought chili-style)
- 2 cans (12 oz. each) tomato sauce
- 4 oz. can tomato paste
- 4 beef bouillon cubes
- 2 quarts water (8 cups)
- 2-6 jalapeno peppers, seeded and chopped
- 1 tsp. basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4-5 Tbsp. chili powder
- 2-3 cans kidney beans, drained

Brown the ground beef with onion in large skillet; drain.
Add to large pot along with tomatoes, sauce, paste, bouillon cubes & water. Add jalapeno and seasonings. Simmer 30 minutes.
Add kidney beans. Simmer 30 minutes.
Notes
I love to use 1/2 lean ground beef and 1/2 sausage!
Also, this recipe does not have to be spicy - just eliminate the jalapenos and use 3-4 Tbsp. chili powder to taste.
